Previous Cretinism Research

I haven't chosen a research project yet so I would like to talk about the research I did last semester in my biology class. My research was about cretinism which is a genetic disorder. There are many factors that cause cretinism and it is well known as iodine deficiency or a lack of thyroid hormones. It can affect physical and mental development. The good news is this is detectable at early stages of development. There is a screen test for newborns. As I researched, I found out there are some countries where screen testing has not yet been implemented. It would be good to provide resources for that kind of screening to save children.
